Planning a Party or Event at a Park or Recreation Area in Carlsbad, CA

City of Carlsbad Parks:

While there are numerous public parks and facilities managed by the City of Carlsbad, there are 8 parks that can be used for pre-reserved family-style parties, company picnics, and other relatively small gatherings. Some of the useful information about reserving a park area is provided below.

Permit Applications: you must submit your Parks & Facility Use Application at least 14 days in advance of your event date. Click for more information on the City of Carlsbad Parks.

Permit Fees: The permit fees are based on hourly rates that vary based on group size, classification category and amount of time requested, with a 3-hour minimum. Generally, the cost is $18/hour for Residents and $24/hour for Non-Residents. If you want to include an inflatable jump or bounce house at your event, there is an additional fee of $10 for Residents and $21 for Non-Residents. As of January, 2008, the maximum allowable size for a jump house is 15' x 15'.

Vendors: Any company supplying equipment or services at your event needs to be listed as an approved vendor by listing the City of Carlsbad as additionally insured on their $1 million insurance policy. 6435 Ambrosia Lane, Carlsbad 921011. Call (760) 931-6528 for information and reservations.

This park has 5 designated covered and lighted picnic shelters and there are 2 electrical outlets per picnic area. For those of you who want to include an inflatable jump at your party, this is great news because with the electricity you don't need to rent a generator, which could mean a savings of $50 or more. This is one of the few parks with available electric -- but, the circuits blow if you plug in too many items (e.g. a bounce house and a popcorn machine), so consider also renting a generator to power multiple items. The park also features an expansive Tot Lot, and ball fields.
